APS and Medicaid Administrative Claiming – Lessons from the Field and How It Can Improve Your APS Program
TUESDAY, August 11th, 2026
Description:
Adult Protective Services programs across the country are chronically underfunded and the consequences are real: delayed services, undertrained staff, high turnover, and vulnerable adults who go unserved. Medicaid Administrative Claiming (MAC) is one funding mechanism that could change that, yet many APS programs are either unaware of it or unsure how to begin.
This webinar will provide APS program administrators, directors, fiscal staff, and State Medicaid program staff with a clear, practical introduction to Medicaid Administrative Claiming, what it is, what it requires, and how it works within an APS program context. Participants will hear directly from ADvancing States on the fundamentals of MAC, including requirements, key partners, and how to bring the right people to the table in your state.
Most importantly, attendees will hear real examples from three APS programs currently utilizing MAC in South Carolina, Utah, and North Carolina. Each representing a different program structure and approach. These field examples will help demystify the process and illustrate what implementation can look like in practice.
Whether your program is just beginning to explore MAC or looking to strengthen an existing approach, this session is designed to increase awareness, build confidence, and support the next steps forward.
