CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

To receive credit toward the NAPSA Training Certificate, an application must first be received by NAPSA. The NAPSA Certificate program offers two options for credit towards achieving the NAPSA Training Certificate. These are as follows:

Group Options

By arrangement with NAPSA, entire programs, or large groups may arrange to complete all of the required NAPSA Modules either through e-learning or in-person training of NAPSA Modules.

To utilize this option, the trainees’ program or organization agrees to track and maintain documentation of all training completions for their group and to provide this documentation when all trainees have completed all of the required trainings to achieve the NAPSA Training Certificate.

It is recommended that the program or organization contact NAPSA regarding this option, as it requires documentation for each person the program is seeking a certificate for.

Applying as an Individual

Individuals whose programs do not offer group training arrangements may apply as individuals to the NAPSA Certificate program. Individuals must apply and pay the application fee.

In an effort to keep costs as low as possible for participants, Certificate program participants are asked to track and maintain documentation of their module completions until they have completed all requirements for the Certificate, and then submit the documentation of these completions to NAPSA.

Once received, this documentation will be reviewed, and any missing documentation will be requested. If all required documentation is received, applicants will be notified by email of their successful completion, and the completion Certificate will be sent to them.

Certificate fees must have been received for a Certificate to be issued.

Responsibility for Documentation

Certificate Applicants are responsible for keeping copies of the documentation of their completions in case they should be needed later. NAPSA Training Certificate applicants may request training credit for NAPSA Modules successfully completed up to two years prior to their date of application to the NAPSA Certificate Program. In addition, after your application has been accepted and the application fee paid, you have three years from the date of application to complete the required training modules

What NAPSA Strives To Do

NAPSA is committed to strengthening Adult Protective Services (APS) programs by providing high-quality training materials. NAPSA’s Certificate Program has been designed exclusively to recognize APS staff who have completed training on the 23 APS Core Competencies and have two years full-time or four years part-time field experience. Advanced Training

Instructor-led comprehensive training packets are accessible at no cost for states and municipalities to utilize in their training efforts. Training modules include scripted trainer and trainee materials, with skill-based learning activities, handouts, evaluation materials and PowerPoint Presentations. Each module includes an executive summary to support supervisors in assisting staff with transfer of learning skills into the work environment. Many training modules are available as instructor-led training, while some are currently in development.

NAPSA CERTIFICATE FEES

The $100 fee must be paid in full before Certificate will be issued. Please do not send payment until you have completed all the courses and minimum of two years of full-time or four years of part-time APS field experience.

HOW TO RECEIVE COURSE CREDITS

The NAPSA Certificate program requires applicants to complete training on all 23 APS Core Competencies. Training can be completed online through e-learning or in-person.

NAPSA’s certificate program course requirements can be completed through eLearnings at the National APS Training Center. The center provides free eLearnings for APS. People can access the courses at https://natc.totaragovcloud.com/.

QUESTIONS

1. I just started working for an APS Program, can I apply for the NAPSA Training Certificate?

Applicants need a minimum of two years of full-time or four years of part-time APS field experience to obtain the Certificate.

2. What documentation is necessary for me to show that I have completed one or more of the NAPSA Modules?

Please submit the checklist that is attached with the application as well as your transcripts confirming that you completed all the required modules.

3. I’m not an APS Professional, but am considering applying; can I take the NAPSA training courses?

Yes, you can. However, you cannot obtain the NAPSA Training Certificate unless you have worked as an APS Professional for at least two years full-time, or four years part-time.

4. I completed some of these NAPSA trainings prior to applying for the NAPSA Training Certificate; can I get credit for those trainings that will count toward achieving my Certificate?

NAPSA Training Certificate applicants may request training credit for NAPSA Modules successfully completed up to two years prior to their date of application to the NAPSA Certificate Program. To obtain this credit, documentation must be submitted along with the other required documentation at the time of completion.

5. What if I complete all of the modules required, but have not been an APS Worker for two years yet? Can I get my Certificate early?

No, only APS Professionals with at least two years full-time or four year part-time field experience qualify for The NAPSA Certificate. Employment verification must be provided by your supervisor or manager.

6. How much does the NAPSA Certificate Program cost?

For individuals and groups, the total cost is $100 per applicant, which includes a $50 application fee and a $50 certification fee.

7. Do I need to send in proof of my training module completions after each module I complete?

No. Please send proof of completion of all modules at once with your application after you have completed all the modules.
